Processor & MID Analytics

See which MIDs perform best, and why.

Beast's AI-powered payment gateway analytics puts every processor and MID side by side, with approvals, declines, chargebacks and refunds, so you know where every charge does best.

See how it works

The problem

Every processor tells you a different story.

Each speaks its own language

Decline codes, reports and definitions change from one processor to the next.

Averages hide the drag

A blended approval rate hides the MID, bank or card that pulls it down.

"Do not honor" explains nothing

A decline reason means little until you see it by bank, card and MID.

Problems surface late

By the time a processor report shows a drop, it has run for weeks.

Why it matters

More processors, more ways to lose a charge.

  • 3.9

Gateways the average merchant runs, each reporting its own way

  • <87%

US Visa approval rate, so more than 1 in 8 charges is declined

  • 35%

of merchants route payments intelligently across them

Inside the engine

Every processor, one language.

Beast's AI reads every charge from every processor and translates their codes into one language, so you can compare them fairly by MID, bank, card and offer.

Decline reasonsEvery processor

One language

Every approval, decline, refund and chargeback lines up the same way, by processor, MID, bank, card and offer.

Payments team

A payments expert who knows your processors.

Our payments team helps you read a drop and find its cause, from a bank declining one card type to a MID that needs attention.

What you get

Find what lifts approvals, and what drags them down.

See approvals by anything

Break approvals down by processor, MID, bank, BIN, card, price point, billing cycle, campaign or affiliate, and find the slice pulling you down.

Approval rate by price point: $19.95 86.8%, $29.95 81.9%, $49.95 74.6%, $79.95 66.9%, $99.95 58.7%. The $99.95 price point approves least.

Know why charges decline

Every processor's decline codes in one set of reasons, with the trend, so a rising reason stands out.

Declines by reason, last 30 days: issuer declined 10,371, insufficient funds 7,914, gateway or network 3,002, expired card 2,456, invalid card 1,637. Insufficient funds is up 18% in two weeks.

Compare every kind of charge

First charges, renewals and upsells each have their own approval rate and trend. See which one moved.

Approval rate by kind of charge: first charges 61.8%, down 0.4 points; renewals 84.2%, up 0.7 points; upsells 80.9%, up 2.1 points.

Compare chargebacks and refunds

Chargeback and refund rates for every processor and gateway, side by side, so the one running high stands out.

Chargeback and refund rates by processor: Gateway A 0.52% chargebacks, 4.1% refunds; Gateway B 0.61% chargebacks, 4.8% refunds; Gateway C 1.08% chargebacks, 6.2% refunds. Gateway C runs highest.

FAQ

What merchants ask about multi-processor payment analytics.

Talk to a payments lead

What is payment gateway analytics?

Measuring every gateway and MID the same way, across every processor: approvals, declines, refunds and chargebacks, by bank, card, offer and day. It's also called multi-processor payment analytics. Beast puts them side by side, so you can see which MIDs perform best and what pulls the others down.

Is a payment analytics platform worth it for a subscription business?

Usually, once you run more than one processor or a handful of MIDs. One processor's reports can't compare MIDs, banks or offers across processors, so the costly patterns stay hidden: a MID losing approvals, a bank declining one card type, an offer whose renewals fail. Beast shows them side by side, from $99 a month.

How can I see payment data from multiple processors in one dashboard?

Connect your billing platform and processors to Beast, read-only. It pulls every charge, decline, refund and chargeback from each one, puts their codes and reports into one language and shows them in one view, by processor, gateway and MID. Most merchants are live in days.

Which tool compares approval rates across processors and MIDs?

Beast does, for subscription merchants. It shows the approval rate of every processor, gateway and MID side by side, every day, and breaks each one down by bank, BIN, card, price point, billing cycle and offer, so you can see where every charge does best.

What can I break approvals down by?

Processor, gateway, MID and acquirer; the customer's bank and BIN; card brand, type and class; price point and billing cycle; campaign, product and affiliate. Pick any two in a row, like bank then BIN, and Beast shows approvals and approval rate for each, with the trend.

Which software analyzes payment decline reasons by issuer?

Beast does, for subscription merchants. It puts every processor's decline codes into one set of reasons, such as issuer declines, insufficient funds and expired cards, and breaks each one down by issuing bank, BIN, card and MID, with its trend and the codes behind it.

Why is one MID approving less than the others?

Usually one bank, card type or offer behaves differently on it. Beast breaks the MID down so you can see which slice moved and since when. For card network limits, see MID Health Monitoring; for a sudden drop, Anomaly Alerts flags it as it happens.

Can I see first charges, renewals and upsells separately?

Yes. Each kind of charge has its own approval rate and trend, so a drop in renewals isn't hidden by healthy first charges. Filter any view by the kind of charge, or look at first attempts only, leaving retries out.

Can I compare chargebacks and refunds by processor?

Yes. Beast shows chargeback and refund rates for every processor and gateway side by side, with the trend, so you can see which one runs high and dig into it. To find the offers and customers behind them, see Chargeback Analytics. For Visa and Mastercard limits by MID, see MID Health Monitoring.

How do I find the best MID for a bank or card?

Break approvals down by bank or BIN, then by MID, and Beast shows where each card range approves best. To act on it, see Approval Rate Optimization: Beast recommends the best MID for each card range, and with Revenue boost it routes for you.

How often is the data updated?

Every day. Beast reads the day's charges from every processor and updates every view, so a drop shows up the next morning, not in next month's processor report. For problems as they happen, Anomaly Alerts watch every processor in real time.

How is this different from my processor's reports?

A processor reports only its own charges, in its own codes. Beast puts every processor next to the others, in one language, and lets you break any of them down by bank, card, offer and MID, so you can compare them fairly and see what to change.

What do I need to connect?

Your billing platform and your processors, read-only. There's no code to add to your checkout and nothing to migrate, and most merchants are live in days. See every billing platform, gateway and processor Beast connects to on the integrations page.

What does it cost?

Processor & MID Analytics is part of the Platform plan, billed monthly by your processing volume, from $99 a month. The same plan includes Opportunities, Profitability & LTV and the rest of the Platform, for unlimited users. See pricing for every volume band.
