Chargeback Analytics

Find where chargebacks start, and cut them at the source.

Beast's AI-powered chargeback analytics traces every chargeback to the offer, affiliate and customer behind it, so you know what to fix before your ratios climb.

See how it works

The problem

Chargebacks arrive late, and say little.

They land months later

Chargebacks arrive weeks or months after the sale, so this month's rate isn't the real one.

Reports stop at the MID

Processor reports count chargebacks by MID, not by the offer, affiliate or customer behind them.

Codes don't say what to fix

A 10.4 or a 4837 means little until you see it by offer, affiliate and customer.

The same customers come back

A few customers dispute again and again, and each one costs more than they paid.

Why it matters

More chargebacks, tighter limits.

Inside the engine

Every chargeback, back to its sale.

Beast's AI matches every chargeback, refund and alert to the sale behind it, so each one carries its offer, affiliate, MID, card and customer, whichever processor it came through.

FAQ

What merchants ask about chargeback analytics.

Talk to a payments lead

What is chargeback analytics?

Measuring where your chargebacks come from and why: by offer, affiliate, MID, processor and customer, by reason and by month of sale. It's also called chargeback analysis or chargeback reporting. Beast ties every chargeback to the sale behind it, so you can see what drives your rate and fix the cause instead of fighting one dispute at a time.

Which platform reports chargeback trends by card network?

Beast does, for subscription merchants. It reports chargebacks, refunds and alerts by card network, reason, processor, MID, offer and affiliate every day, each with its trend, so you can see which ones are rising and why. For each MID's Visa and Mastercard ratios against their limits, see MID Health Monitoring.

What is an affordable chargeback reporting platform?

Beast's Platform plan, from $99 a month, billed by your processing volume. It includes chargeback analytics alongside approvals, recovery, monitoring and profit, for unlimited users. Beast reads your billing platform and processors, read-only, so there's no code to add and nothing to migrate. See pricing for every volume band.

What is a chargeback cohort?

All the chargebacks from one month of sales, tracked from the day of the sale to 90 days and beyond. Because chargebacks arrive weeks or months after the charge, a cohort shows each month's real chargeback rate as it builds, and whether newer sales are running above your normal.

Why is my chargeback rate rising?

Usually one source changed: an offer, an affiliate or a traffic source drawing customers who dispute. Beast breaks the rise down by offer, affiliate, reason and MID, so you can see which one moved and when it started. For a sudden jump, Anomaly Alerts flags it the moment it happens.

What is a good chargeback rate?

One well below your own normal and the card networks' limits. Visa counts a merchant as excessive at a 1.5% dispute and fraud ratio from April 2026, and many acquirers act well before that. Track it by offer and month of sale, not just in total. Our chargeback ratio guide shows how each network counts it.

What do chargeback reason codes tell me?

What the cardholder's bank said went wrong: fraud, an item not received, a canceled subscription and more. Each network has its own codes, so Beast shows every reason by offer, affiliate and MID, which points to what to fix. Every code is explained in our chargeback reason codes list.

Can I see which customers file chargebacks?

Yes. Beast lists every customer with a chargeback, how many they've filed, what they've paid and their lifetime value after chargebacks. It groups them from the customers worth keeping to the ones costing more than they pay, so you know where repeat disputes come from and which offers draw them.

Are my chargeback alerts working?

Beast shows you. It matches every alert to its order and shows which ones stopped a chargeback, which were already refunded, which became a chargeback anyway and which were for invalid orders, with what each cost, by provider, MID and acquirer, so you can ask your provider for credits. More on whether your alerts are working.

Should I count chargebacks by chargeback date or sale date?

Both, for different jobs. Card networks count chargebacks in the month they arrive, so your ratios follow the chargeback date. To find the cause, count them against the sale. Beast shows both, so you can see which month's sales, offer and affiliate each chargeback came from.

How is this different from my processor's chargeback reports?

A processor reports only its own chargebacks, by MID, often weeks later. Beast puts every processor together and ties each chargeback to its sale, so you see the offer, affiliate and customer behind it, by reason and by month of sale, not just a count per MID.

How often is the data updated?

Every day. Beast reads the day's chargebacks, refunds and alerts from every processor and updates every view, so a rise shows up the next morning instead of in next month's report. For problems as they happen, Anomaly Alerts watch every MID in real time.

What do I need to connect?

Your billing platform and your processors, read-only. Chargebacks, refunds and alerts arrive with the rest of your payment data. There's no code to add to your checkout and nothing to migrate, and most merchants are live in days. See every platform Beast connects to on the integrations page.

What does it cost?

Chargeback Analytics is part of the Platform plan, billed monthly by your processing volume, from $99 a month. The same plan includes MID Health Monitoring, Processor & MID Analytics and the rest of the Platform, for unlimited users. See pricing for every volume band.
